Construction forms round vacuum cleaner
Which geometry is suitable depends on the surface of the component, the curvature of the contact surface, the cycle time, and the available lift on the gripper arm. Therefore, we manufacture all round suction units to order and combine features as needed to find the suitable round suction unit for your application.
A low build height and a short travel length lead to a stable Z-position of the moving workpiece such as flat sheets, plates and glass panes.
Flat round vacuum cleaner
Single, double or multiple folds, depending on the required lift and precision accuracy, equalize height differences
Ball-shaped suction gripper
Radial ridges or a waffle profile on the underside of the lips improve the suction of structured and oil-laden surfaces
Round suction cup profile sealing lip
We integrate threaded sockets, pneumatic connections and support structures made of steel, aluminum or plastic in a seamless manner into the round suction cup.
Vacuum round suction cup metal reinforced
An unvulcanized tissue insert limits the expansion of the suction surface and stabilizes the profile at large diameters.

Advantages & features of vacuum round aspirators
A round vacuum gripper differs from square and oval versions less in its achievable holding force than in its behavior when rotated in different positions. The uniform distribution of the sealing line, tension, and return force across the circumference influences the behavior and wear pattern at the sealing lip.
- Higher service life: Since vulnerable wear areas such as corners are not present, the bending stresses are distributed more uniformly and the service life increases.
- Stability under pressure: The pressure and therefore the deformation of the sealing lip are distributed evenly over the circumference.
- Assembly without angle setting: A suction change does not require alignment of the suction surface, which shortens the set-up time on the gripper.
- Stability during suction: The restoring forces act in a rotation-symmetric manner, so that the workpiece does not tilt during suction.

Our materials
for your round vacuum gripper
In rotary vacuum cleaners, the mixture determines not only the media resistance but also how uniformly and permanently the sealing lip maintains its elastic properties. We select the material together with you based on the component surface, ambient temperature, and purity requirements.
Natural rubber achieves the highest coefficient of friction and tear resistance and can be used from -55 °C to +70 °C, but only if there is no oil contact.
Nitrile rubber is used for handling surfaces that are wet with oil, grease or fuels at temperatures between -30 °C and +110 °C.
They are used when the suction unit is exposed to ozone, weather conditions, hot water or cleaning media between -50 °C and +130 °C.
Chloroprene combines moderate oil resistance with good aging resistance in the temperature range from -40 °C to +100 °C.
Silicone vacuum pumps are used in a wide range of temperatures from -50 °C to +220 °C and are FDA-compliant and biocompatible for use in food processing, laboratory and sterilization processes.
Fluorocarbon rubber round suction cups also withstand fuels, aggressive media and sustained temperatures up to +220 °C.
Polyurethane exhibits the highest abrasion resistance of the aforementioned materials and is particularly suitable for sharp-edged cuts as well as for high cycle times.
You have questions about
round suction grippers?
We have answers!
What suction height is necessary to grip curved workpieces?
Flat, round vacuum cleaners with a soft, flexible sealing lip can compensate for slight curvatures in the millimeter range by deformation of the sealing lip. If the height difference between the attachment point and the contour line within the round suction area exceeds the deformation path of the lip, the sealing line loses contact. Then a one-to-three-fold pleated bellows is used, in which, with increasing number of folds, the suction body also compensates for height differences.
Can many small round suction cups also replace a large round suction cup?
Since holding force results from the effective area and the pressure difference, replacing it with several small round vacuum suction cups is possible and also makes sense depending on the application. The effective area increases quadratically with the diameter (A = π*r²). Therefore, a vacuum cup with a diameter of 100 mm replaces around eleven vacuum cups with a diameter of 30 mm and requires correspondingly fewer connections and maintenance work. The division makes sense if several contact points additionally stabilize the component to be moved, such as in the case of thin sheets, plates, and foils. For rigid, compact components, a large round vacuum suction cup remains the simpler solution, since each additional sealing line increases the risk of leakage.
Which round suction cup material leaves the least residue on sensitive surfaces?
Visible residues form when plasticizers or color pigments from the rubber round-nose nozzle migrate to the surface and transfer to the workpiece. This effect is further enhanced by the high surface pressure at the sealing lip. Light-colored formulations based on silicone or EPDM with a Shore A rating of 30 to 45 contain only a few to hardly any free plasticizers and therefore exhibit the least visible discoloration on paint and polished surfaces. Natural rubber achieves higher friction values, but leaves more visible marks on light-colored surfaces.
How is the diameter of a suction cup designed in a round shape?
The starting point for determining the required force is the weight of the workpiece to be moved, the axis acceleration, and the achievable vacuum level. The effective area and the pressure difference result in the theoretical holding force, which is specified with a safety factor. Whether a large rotary vacuum cleaner or several small ones is appropriate depends again on the stiffness of the workpiece.
What shore hardnesses are used for vacuum round suction cups?
We mainly manufacture round vacuum cleaners with a Shore A rating of 30 to 70. Soft mixtures with a Shore A rating of 30 to 40 adhere well to rough, textured, and slightly curved surfaces and also produce a reliable sealing line even at low pressure. Round vacuum cleaners with a hardness rating of approximately 60 Shore A limit deflection under transverse forces and keep the workpiece stable even at high travel speeds, but require flat and clean contact surfaces. Therefore, the choice of the appropriate Shore hardness for your round vacuum gripper depends not only on the weight of the workpiece but also on the surface condition and motion profile.
